This is a comprehensive tour of the croatian northern Adriatic coast – the Istra and Kvarner region .

We picked Opatija as the starting spot for the daily excursions. Opatija has the longest tourism tradition in Croatia, and its tourism season lasts all year long. It is close to all the famous tourist spots, so there are:
- no frequent changes of hotels, an
- no long rides ( max. 214 km in total per day ).
This way you can explore in detail the region.
PROGRAM
1st DAY: Arrival to Opatija. Accommodation in the hotel . Dinner and overnight.
Opatija › Rijeka › Trsat
2nd DAY: Our tour starts in Opatija. You will first take a walk with the guide along the Franz Joseph`s promenade and enjoy the beautiful views of the many villas built in the 19th century. The walk proceeds through the botanical garden, with the flower maze, and ends with coffee and cake in the famous Cristall Ballroom of the old Hotel Kvarner – a cosy morning, just like the ones noblemen used to spend 2 centuries ago is guaranteed. The afternoon is dedicated to the visit of Rijeka – the major city of the whole region. All valurable spots can be reached by taking a pleasent walk – the Governor`s Palace, the St. Vitus Chatedral, the Roman Arch, the Town Hall, the Church of the Assumption and the Leaning tower...You will also visit the Trsat Castle, which lies on a hill above the city for centuries. Apart from the beautiful Castle, Trsat is a famous sanctuary – you will also visit the Church of the Holy Mother of God and the Franciscan Monastery. This complex twice has had the honour to be the host of the Pope. Return to Opatija, accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Rovinj › Porec › Motovun
3rd DAY: After breakfast you will go on a whole day tour to the Istrian peninsula, where you will explore its beautiful northwest coast, as well as its inland known as the «croatian Tuscany». Your first stop will be in Rovinj - the fascinating city of centennial staircases, narrow walkways, tall houses and palaces decorated with lions of St. Marc. The well known St.Euphemia's Basilica watches on the city. Your next stop will be in the city of Porec and its Euphrasian Basilica known for the beautiful mosaics. The basilica is on the UNESCO's list since 1997. Porec is a compact city, full of late antique structures of the medieval and Venetian era. Nowdays, Porec is known as a luxurious touristic destination as well as the city of excellent wines. On your return to Opatija, a stop will be made in Motovun – a gorgeus medieval city that lies on a hill. The region is well known for truffels, and you will have the opportunity to taste some in Livade. Dinner and overnight in Opatija.
Pula › National Park «Brijuni islands»
4th DAY: After breakfast the tour proceeds towards the southern istrian coast, where one of the most beautiful an luxurious places in Croatia is situated– the National Park of the Brijuni Islands. You will reach the park by boat from Fazana, near Pula. The guided tour of the Park includes the visit of the island by tourist train – the ex yugoslav president Tito`s summer residence, the zoological open park, the 1 000 years old olive tree, the ancient Roman Villa and much more...You will explore why the Brijuni islands were and still are visited by celebrities from all over the world. Before you return to Opatija, you will also visit the ancient city of Pula – the centre spot of the Istrian region. You will take a walk with the guide and visit the history spots - the Roman Amphitheatre Arena – built the same year as the Roman Amphitheatre, the Temple of Augustus, the Ancient Stone Forum…Return to Opatija, dinner and overnight.
Vrbnik › Punat › Kosljun Island › Krk
5th DAY: Today you will explore the largest croatian island – Krk. It is connected with land with a 1 432m long bridge. The featured cities are: Vrbnik – well known for the production of the excellent Zlahtina wine. After the wine tasting you will go to Punat, from where you will easily reach the petit island of Kosljun. In its Monastery 30 000 pieces of work in glagolitic alphabet are being preserved. The incunabula preserved in the monastery are of inestimable value. On your return to Opatija, a break in the main city of Krk will be made – some of its most valuable spots are – the 12th century roman Chatedral, the Frankopan walls, the St. Quirinus Basilica... Dinner and overnight in Opatija.
Cres › Mali Losinj
6th DAY: You will reach the island of Cres by ferry. Cres is one of the most green islands in Croatia. Large, but with a very few ihabitants. It is a beautiful example of small fisherman`s villages, and intact nature. On your way, you will pass by the Vransko lake - it is 74 m deep, and 13 m above sea level. Afterwards you will cross over a tiny bridge that conects the islands of Cres and Mali Losinj, where you will visit the towns of Mali («small» ) and Veliki ( «big») Lošinj, stroll through the stony streets, view the villas of vilas of the Austrian aristocracy and learn about the history and tradition of the island. Return to Opatija, dinner and overnight.
7th DAY: After breakfast, departure for home journey.
